I am excited to announce that we will be hosting a virtual author visit with Lisa Yee on Tuesday, February 22nd at 10am! A native of the San Gabriel Valley, Lisa has been writing for children for years, and has become well-known for novels like Millicent Min, Girl Genius and Stanford Wong Flunks Big-Time, but it is her new novel, Maizy Chen's Last Chance, that is the real stand-out.
"Heartfelt, personal and real-- this book is a gift."
--Tae Keller, Newbery Medal-winning author of When You Trap a Tiger
"I love this book. Soon to be a classic."
--Rita Williams Garcia, Newbery Honor-winning author of One Crazy Summer
"Like the best Chinese food, Lisa Yee's story is powerful yet subtle and truly delicious."
--Grace Lin, Newbery Honor-winning author of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon
She writes poignantly, and with humor, about Chinese-American families like her own, and I think our students will just love her. I'll be introducing her books to them this week and next, in preparation for her virtual visit.
As in the past, students will be able to order signed books. I will put paper order forms in your boxes, but here is the link to order books online. They can do so up through the week of the author visit. https://www.shoponceuponatime.com/event/school-visit-lisa-yee-virtual-1
Please send this out when you send newsletters, etc. to your class!
Thanks so much!
