Are you ready to be engrossed in entomology, the study of bugs? To investigate and analyze crime scene evidence to solve a mystery? To DIG into Earth Science? We’ll see what physical and chemical changes take place in and around your kitchen and discover how simple machines make our lives easier. Movie Effects gives you a chance to sit in the director’s chair and discover why science is the real star of the big screen. Test and play with spinning tops, building gears, and gravity toys. Conduct hands-on experiments to understand how and why weather works!

After trying out their playlist on parents, thirty-eight students in Becky Lievense’s and Karla Yulo’s classes donned straw hats and bandanas to do a reprise of historic songs at the British Home in Sierra Madre. High Point’s social studies curriculum includes a collaboration with music teacher Doris Wang while studying California’s 1849 Gold Rush, and the joy of spreading cheer to others is part of the school’s Community Engagement program—a perfect meeting of the minds. . . and miners!

High Point Academy’s “Eagle Times” newspaper was started by 4 sixth graders, Megan, Lexi, Madeline, and Jacob with the hope of being an informative voice for HPA eagles. Written during their lunch break, the “Eagle Times” covers school-wide stories and includes games, puzzles, and interviews. The team produces regular weekly/biweekly issues which are distributed throughout campus.

The Kansas City Chiefs pulled out a win in the last minutes of Super Bowl LVII on Sunday; meanwhile the much-favored High Point Eagles scored a big win for charity. Community Engagement is a long-standing tradition at the school, affording children an opportunity to develop empathy and an understanding of the many needs in the Pasadena area. To that end, Mrs. Marble’s and Ms. Salazar’s classes broke the all-time Souper Bowl record on Friday in a well-planned service learning event.

Fifth graders at High Point Academy set out with one goal in mind: raise enough money to purchase as many games, toys, and baking mixes as possible in time for a Valentine’s Day delivery. They came up with a game plan—do chores at home and sell baked goods at school.

The 2023 National History Day theme for 2023 is "Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas." On Friday, January 13, 2023, eighth graders in Mr. Valiulis’s History Day class presented their final products for submission for this prestigious competition.

“I remember a night where my mom, dad, and grandmother were in the kitchen, and I was with my uncle. He had drawn out a dog and cat on big sheets of paper for us to color with oil pastels. I can’t remember much of him, but I hope that this press is used and cherished for the years to come at High Point.”—Rachel K., 8th grade.

Blog post by Sarah A. (Class of 2023). The 7th and 8th grade Junior High Service Club held a gift drive for the Children's Law Center during the week of December 5th-9th. The Children's Law Center of California (CLC) provides legal advocacy for abused, neglected, or abandoned children in the foster care system. High Point Academy did an amazing job participating in this event.
